Dragon Academy

Dental technology has changed a lot in the last 20 years and has become very diverse. It is difficult to always be up to date in every area and to remain at a top level. A dental technician must have a basic knowledge in as many areas as possible (i.e. an understanding of the basic principles of "why and when") in order to be able to operate and compete confidently in the marketplace.
Certainly, there are many dental courses that broadly cover all areas. But individual courses often generate only short-term bursts of euphoria among participants. We all know that in order to consolidate what has been learned, it must be practiced and trained. Practice, in turn, takes time, which you often don't really have in everyday life. But if what is learned is not applied, more than 50 percent of the knowledge is lost within the first week.
That's why we have decided with the Dragon Academy to initially teach the 10 areas we consider important within 3 months in our academy in Augsburg from Monday to Saturday all day.

The 10 topics are built on each other. The training starts with a seminar on communication and ends with a seminar on image composition and the presentation of your own work.

Goals

It is important for us that the participants are able to analyze the current condition correctly. In addition to the technical analysis, the dental technician should also listen to the patient's wishes. It is essential to have clarity about what the objective is, what the patient's (psychological) motives are and what is possible and necessary to achieve the objective. In this context, the choice of material and procedure are initially in the background. If the intermediate steps and the situation change, new planning is always required.

In this way, the participants will not only learn how to layer the ceramics, but also improve their communication skills with the aim of creating solution-oriented patient and customer discussions. In addition to learning and understanding the morphology of a tooth, the lesson plan also includes planning and sequencing a successful restoration.

Questioning the procedures, understanding the principle of the process and acting in a reflective manner, even when circumstances may change along the way: These are skills that participants learn in the training and are the most important qualities for future success.

Topics

Communication

Our speed often causes pressure and stress in our daily lives. The causes are usually the flood of information due to digitalization at work, but often also our personal and social demands in our private lives.

There is hardly any room to breathe and for our personal perception, our mutual appreciation as well as our self-esteem can suffer.

In this context, dissatisfaction as well as most modern social diseases such as burnout, depression, states of exhaustion and many more develop. Frequently also sleep disorders with the main diagnosis insomnia. Restful sleep is missing, which results in unfavorable changes in the quality of everyday working life. Sometimes also the important patient discussions suffer from it.

The patient conversation forms the basis of every medical service institution.
A formula for success is equally important for patients as well as for the practice and laboratory team: an analysis based on the "Clean Language & Symbolic Modeling Method".

Speakers

Photography

Dental photography with concept

Photography in the dental field is becoming more and more important.

The exchange of information and documentation through images simplify communication, make the process more understandable and safer.
In this advanced training course, you will learn the basics of dental product and patient photography in a fun way.

Speakers

Planning of the supply and the processes

Planning designs and procedures is the basic building block and a solid foundation for later implementation in model production.

Once you have a goal in mind, it's first important to plan and analyze a viable path to get there. That is, you need to make sure you have enough power, stamina, the right base, and enough fuel/reserves. At the same time, you need to decide which route to take to get to your destination: the fast route, which may cost more energy, or the longer route, which may be more economical and safer. Each option has advantages and disadvantages.

Therefore, this training places great emphasis on being consistent with your planning. Every change of direction requires new planning.

Speakers

Model making

The implementation in the laboratory begins with the production of a model. Today, it is not always necessary to mix plaster for this purpose, because new technology allows us to work fully digitally in many cases. However, we still work analog for the most part, because that is still the most accurate approach in most cases. Some of the work can also be combined.
So, for an optimal result and an efficient approach, you should be well versed in both areas - analog and digital - and know different possibilities of each technique. Here you will learn about different possibilities of analog and digital model making and get important impulses for your craftsmanship and creative thinking.

Speakers

Morphology

Why is the morphology of a tooth so important for us dental technicians?

In order to be able to reproduce teeth artificially and, above all, in digital form so that they look natural and, in particular, can assume the function of a natural tooth, you need basic knowledge about tooth shape and morphology.

This is because each individual tooth in the human dentition has its own characteristics that are directly and indirectly linked to its function.

Speakers

Function and aesthetics

In this seminar we focus on function and esthetics in a stomatognathic system. Function and esthetics in teeth are very closely related and have a great influence on phonetics. Thus, it is of course very important to be able to correctly determine the relation of the lower jaw to the upper jaw, but also to know the functional details of the masticatory system. It is equally important to be able to determine and assess the shape, size and correct position of the teeth.

Speakers

Ceramics

Ceramics is much more than just a material from which we can make a tooth, much more than just a material that we can shape or bring into a three-dimensional form. Ceramics is a special material that can be shaped in four dimensions and also has a great liveliness due to opal effects that let the colors play depending on the incidence of light.

If a dental technician wants to claim that he or she makes teeth and not just dentures, he or she must be familiar with the effects or properties of ceramics. This includes knowing how a tooth is structured from the core in order to be able to translate this tooth shape into the ceramic.

Then it no longer makes any difference which ceramic was used, since there are no bad ceramic materials on the market. There are masses with which can do well or better. The technique and the knowledge of the properties of the ceramic make the difference. Since the ceramic should not be considered as a three-dimensional object, it is even more important to understand the principle of building up a tooth in ceramic. This principle and much more will be explained to you in this training course.

Speakers

Implant technology

The population is growing, life expectancy is increasing and so is the desire for a better quality of life. Anyone who can bite down hard and has healthy teeth can consider themselves lucky. Stable and good dentures are definitely part of a high quality of life.

With an implant restoration, it is now very possible to maintain this high quality of life despite tooth loss. However, as in nature, not everything is always possible and not on every surface.

First of all, of course, one has to know which possibilities exist at all and in which cases implantation might be contraindicated. Only after planning and defining an achievable goal can the implementation begin. In this seminar you will learn how to plan implant technology and how to proceed in a structured manner.

Speakers

Digital construction

In dentistry, we are actually no longer in the digital transformation, because the digital has long since arrived. It is only being constantly improved and expanded. Digitization in dentistry is indisputably a great help. However, we should not forget that the basics have not really changed.

If you want to be up to date in dental technology, you have to be well versed in both the analog and digital fields and draw from both worlds as needed for a better result. Here you will learn what is possible digitally and in which cases it is worth combining the digital with the analog.

Speakers

Image and presentation setup

"A picture is worth a thousand words." This motto also applies to dental technology. Communicating one's own concerns through images, videos and their combination with text is much more effective with the help of modern presentation programs.

Similar to film production, there are various ways to design a presentation. If a story exists, perhaps together with a suitable melody, the image composition and editing are adapted. This makes the design easier. So if we have a story or a process or a piece of information that we want to convey, we have more possibilities to support it with suitable images and their correct positioning.

In this advanced training, participants will be introduced to the function of presentation programs.

In this seminar you will learn how to use different effects in image and video editing, what effects are created and how to convey your "message" without losing information.

The "Picasso principle": layering anterior crowns

Quick, simple, effective

The Picasso principle is remarkably simple, so that all dental technicians can learn it with a little talent and a little training. The principle impresses with its natural light effect in all lighting conditions and its reproducibility in tooth shades. The layering technique can be transferred to any ceramic system. In this unique ceramic course, it is the technique and not the best ceramic assortment that counts. The participants get to know different ceramic systems and benefit from the collegial exchange among each other. There will be 4 non-prep veneers, a veneer on minimally invested repair and a crown on implant will be layered/created. The veneer can be layered with your ceramic materials that you are currently using in the laboratory or that you would like to get to know.

Topics

Model fabrication / planning of the restoration and procedures / implant technology / ceramics.

Communication, planning and model fabrication intertwine at the beginning of the process like no other topics.

  1. The first step is, of course, the anamnesis (information from the laboratory / from the conversation with the patient).
  2. After the patient has communicated a clear wish, we analyze the situation on the model, document it and work out a plan for a course of action.
  3. We make different types of models. We start with the fabrication of a situation model, move on to model fabrication with Geller dies and finally to the master model. We pay attention to a clean manufacturing method and in which cases what is really useful.

Implant technique

In this part of the training we will go through different possibilities of prosthetic restoration with implants.
We deal with intermediate steps that are necessary and facilitate the way to achieve the desired goal of implant placement. Together we go through what to look for, why this or another type of restoration would be better in a case, and fabricate a restoration according to backward planning.

Harmony of white and red esthetics

For implant-supported restorations

In this day and age of constant progress with ever new innovative materials, we expect all our material requirements to be met as far as possible. To do this, however, we also need to know how to process these materials and where to use them.

This part of the training will demonstrate layering on a three-unit implant-supported zirconium framework, reconstructing both teeth and natural gums. It will also be taught that it is not just a matter of fabricating one or more anterior teeth per se, but rather replacing a missing or non-functioning component in a complex system that resembles nature from a functional and esthetic perspective. The emphasis is on individual layering, shape, and tooth-to-gum harmony. Participants first practice on a three-part restoration. Finally, what they have learned is implemented in a complete restoration on implant.

Topics

Function and esthetics

This module begins with an introductory general consideration of important aspects for successful cooperation between the dental technician and the dentist.

As a second topic, the great importance of the laboratory in functional restorations will be discussed. The restoration and maintenance of the stomatognathic system can only be achieved through the successful relationship between function and esthetics within the natural biological compensation possibilities. Based on a practice-proven clinical functional concept, essential aspects of occlusion and articulation are explained in detail. Other topics include: Axiography, splint treatment, occlusal abutments, functional wax-up.

The third part deals with the beauty of teeth. The essential criteria of anterior aesthetics are gone through, morphological peculiarities of anterior teeth are explained and the various methods that can be used to predictably achieve an aesthetically high-quality result are pointed out.

Communication

More Clarity with „Clean Language & Symbolic Modeling “

In this seminar, participants learn how to successfully design solution-oriented patient conversations as well as essential tactical and negotiation psychology methods. They will learn to master new training focuses and apply them in daily conversation practice. Challenging case studies will be discussed and prepared by the team in terms of conversation tactics. Thus, the exchange of experiences of all participants will play a special role. Creating useful experiences through image-generating patient conversations, metaphors and symbolic modeling. Reading the patient's body language and using it effectively (mirroring), recognizing resistance and successfully transforming it into solution-oriented communication. These topics are dealt with intensively in theory and practice.

Subsequently, the respective case studies are implemented in dialogue-led and image-generating training conversations. The focus of the respective conversation analyses is the emotion management of perception psychology.

I am very much looking forward to this cooperation!
